Prayer Summary for August 21 |
Notice: The following information was taught and prayed about during morning prayer session this morning. Scripture Focus… When Solomon had finished praying, the fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the house. (2) The priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house. (14) If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer offered in this place. For I have chosen and sanctified (set apart for holy use) this house, that My Name may be here forever, and My eyes and My heart will be here perpetually. (2 Chron. 7:1-2,14 AMP) Shared… One of the greatest sins of the twenty-first century Church is the sin of being lukewarm in our attitudes toward Jesus. The "not too wild-not too mild" mentality that many churches have is a type of wickedness that God detests. It is this attitude which we must repent of before true revival can come. Christians live in this world, but God expects His people to live differently from those who don't know Him. No one is suggesting legalistic, rule-centered Christianity here. What is being suggested is that we live a lifestyle of loving God and enjoying His presence. Out of that lifestyle will come a spiritual sensitivity to the things that grieve the Holy Spirit. When we understand the things that grieve the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives, we can come to the point of just refusing to do those things! Holiness is not rules and regulations. Holiness is simply giving God our best in every area of living. God sees everything and it is what He sees that we must repent of and change. Our sin grieves His heart beyond anything that we can imagine. Until we face that fact and deal with the issues at stake, revival can never come. The Church cannot continue to play religious games with God. We must live a lifestyle of humility (yielding to His will) and integrity of heart that can only some through continual repentance and live based holiness before Him. There is no other way to see revival come. Politicians and political ideologies will not fix a nation's problems. Those who believe otherwise are deceived. More jobs, less inflation, cheaper gasoline, lower interest rates, and a thriving economy are not the solutions. More education, better healthcare, and a cleaner environment will not solve any nation's great problems. What is happening not is the deterioration of the very foundation on which our nation, America, has been built. Churches will not fix the problem with relevant programs, attractive ads, and personable leaders who preach a message that is designed to make people feel better about themselves. Many Churches have become little more than places people can go to relax, be comfortable, and be happy. The message being communicated is, "come on in and make yourself comfortable; and while you are here, let us tell you a little bit about God-if that's okay with you." This is the trend and it only contributes to the rapidly accelerating moral free-fall our nation is currently experiencing. Only God can pull us off the slippery slope our nation is presently on. Thankfully, He has promised to do it! He will send an invasion of His glory that will produce a transformation sufficient to bring healing to our land-if the Church will meet the conditions listed above. He isn't waiting for conditions in our nation to get bad enough before He decides we need to have a revival. He is waiting upon the Church to wake up to its responsibility and cooperate with Him in revival before it is too late! Many times people will say, "Well, we are just waiting on God." What they need to understand is that God is the One Who is waiting upon us! He is ready right now to send a great spiritual awakening if the Church will cooperate with Him in it! He will do all that is required. He doesn't need out help for revival to come. But He does need for us to cease our resistance through sin, apathy, pride, competition, prayerlessness, and unrepentant attitudes that are very accommodating to sin. If we will do our part, He will gladly move by His Holy Spirit and do great things in our land by sending revival glory.
