It is the Spirit who gives life;

Jesus said in John 6:63, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." And Hebrews 4:12 states, "For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Jesus describes His words are sharp and that they divide the soul (emotions and mind) from the spirit (eternal) of the human heart. The power of this truth can not be overstated.

One of the great dangers in revival is that individuals and even entire churches become preoccupied with experiencing the supernatural power of God. This is something wonderful and glorious as long as they stay clean by the Word of God. But some of these became so enamored with the power of God in their midst that they neglect placing a proper emphasis on the Word of God. When this happened, they become confused and move into error, and what had begun as a wonderful movement of God's Spirit will have a bad ending.

Someone once said, If all you have is the Word of God, You will dry up. If all you have if the Spirit of God, you will blow up. But if you will have the word of God and the Spirit of God, you will grow up. And when church starts, you will show up. When offering time comes, you will pay up. And when Jesus returns, you will go up!

There is much truth in those words!

People in search of experience in the realms of the glory of the Lord's presence MUST STAY UPON THE FIRM FOUNDATION OF THE WRITTEN WORD OF GOD OR THEY WILL GET INTO TROUBLE! God confirms His Word with His presence and His presence with His Word. When people refuse to avail themselves of the written Word of God, their experience will become polluted with other things, and the glory of the Lord will be replaced with other spiritual forces. The sad truth is they will never even recognize the difference. We must keep the Word of the Lord ever before our eyes and our hearts for God to truly reveal Himself in the fullness of all that He desires to do.

Though we are living in days when God is desiring to reveal His glory in ever-increasing ways throughout the earth, it must be understood that He shows His glory only to those who will value it and who are genuinely thirsty and hungry to see His glory revealed. Jesus said that we were not to cast our "pearls before swine," referring to the exposing of the holy, precious things that God does to those who would despise and ridicule them. What most people don't realize is God doesn't cast His pearl before swine either! The greatest honor a man or woman can know in this life is to stand in the manifest presence of the glory of God. There is nothing like it anywhere. Therefore, we must always show honor and respect for the privilege when it is afforded to us. We must never ever take it for grated. We must seek that holy place with all of our heart. He reserves His "pearls of glory" for those who can be trusted and would never dream of trampling upon them.
